So I wanted to finish my portfolio by Friday as I had an exam to study for on Monday, and finally I have!
Overall I am so happy with the portfolio and the work I have done using flash. I thought it was going to be quite challenging but using the files that Jason gave us really helped a lot. And once the task at hand seem capable I was able to get on a role and finish the portfolio, with help from Jason of course.
The biggest thing I had trouble with was at the end, the file was far to big as I had very long songs in them. Jason suggested to use previews and include a link to the full songs and this was easy to do and worked out well, reducing the file size a lot. I also had to edit some of the images as well to cut it down even more. As I thought, my videos were too big to embed in the portfolio, so they are all links to youtube, and one to facebook as it got taken off youtube for being too long. I also cut down the amount of content that I was going to put it so that it was simpler and not so repetitive.
I really hoped that the theme of portfolio was professional and appealing enough, I tend to always go for a purple, black, gray theme and I didn't want to differ here.
Looking back on when we did our first project in flash with the basic button artwork, I can definitely say that I have come a very long way to now. I remember hitting the flash wall during that first assignment and thinking how hard and impossible it was, and that was just a basic artwork. Im very happy that I have come to grips with flash and been able to gain the knowledge of how to work with it throughout the semester.
I was always worried about taking this class as I knew it was going to be challenging, and also cause I am so comfortable with Html, that I didn't want to push myself. But now at the end of semester, with my portfolio working and loaded Im very glad that I did push myself and that I have completed New Media Art.
Thanks Jason!

Ffiles that are useful for my portfolio
'WriteOn text Effect'
I am including some essays in my portfolio (interesting ones on music), and I want a way to present them. Therefore I chose this ffile so I could put one of my essays in them. I would change the background colour and make the title, the title of the essay and then insert this ffile onto a page that still has the same theme as the rest of my portfolio. This way you can scroll down the essay, instead of getting the full thing in one go. I think I will only use this for one of my essays and try to use a different effect for each one.
Circular Thumbnail Gallery
I need a photo gallery to put all of my digital writing photo-shopped photos into and i particularly like this ffile. I dont have an extensive range of photos so this I probably wont need all of the tabs that are provided. I liked that I would be able to put a summary of the photo next to it when it is roll over, as a lot of the photos have their own themes. I thought that the photos didn't really magnify enough to what I would want, so I would need to look at changing this, but I think when I put my photos into the ffile it would be easy to enlarge them and still make the ffile work. This gallery also allows room for my portfolios logo to sit in the corner, making it easy to get back to the home page.
AS3 Shadow Box
This is another option for a photo gallery that I like. The amount of photos that I have would probably take up one line along the thumbnails side without having to scroll up or down the page. It is also useful in that it presents the photos in a very larger format, which is what I didn't like about the other gallery. However unlike the other gallery that I looked at, this one doesn't have room to allow for small information to be given about the photos. I would still be able to incorporate the logo into this gallery and the background of gray is already along the lines of my color scheme.
Equalizer Stimulation
I will be uploading some music files that I have made into my portfolio. There wasn't an extensive range of music players on ffiles but I though I could make this one work. I would be able to change the colors of the bars to go along with the color scheme first of all. And as it is such a little player then I can easily insert it into a page that holds the main background theme on it, as well as the home logo. This would still give me room to include the title of the track and some info about it like what the criteria for it was, or what software I used. For my own personal tracks that I made using popular songs, I would rather find something bigger and more exciting as they dont exactly have a basis behind them.

At first glance dhtml seems a lot more refined, extensive and professional than flash. However I that I have conjured this assumption compared to my own works and the dynamic color schemes of dhtml.
I think it definitely would have benefits over flash, although Im sure for a first time user and something basic like what we are doing in class, flash may be more suitable and easier to learn. Dhtml especially has a great 3D effects and look to it, hence seeming more evolved than flash. 'Its an illusion' is a great example of the 3D effects that are capable, and of how good they can look.
The range of photo galleries and effects that they used was quite extensive and more than Ive seen from viewing ffiles.com. Therefore in terms of photo galleries I would 100% recommend using dhtml to get the best kind of look and most diverse gallery that you could want. The same can be said in terms of animation, the movement is for clean and crisp, it isn't slow and this also means that it has a great interface. This great use of animation would make using games easier and more professional. This ease in navigation and animation can be seen in various dhtml files, for example 'He Knew'.
Overall I thought that the look, navigation, and interface of dhtml seemed a lot better than flash, which also makes it seem harder. It would appear that you can make far more extensive and professional things in dhtml than you can in flash. So for someone like me, who is only using it for class and small projects, flash is fine to use especially now that I have gotten the hang of it.

Elements Impact
How do elements like sound and color and shade and opacity/alpha impact a creation…..chat about how you can use those elements to get across a mood and/or a meaning for a creation?
Color alone can be a big impact on a creation, altering mood and meanings. Different colors have various meanings depending on religion, feelings, cultures as well as personal meanings. A certain color, or more likely and image can relate to different people in all sorts of ways. Red could be seen as a symbol for death, stop, blood and therefore is a rather abrupt and dark color. Put in a Gothic like setting and it certainly would be reminiscent of blood, for example like in my video game which had a sinister theme. White is normally associated with something pure and innocent so it would create a serene feeling. Purple can be associated with many things, its a big color in religion and also relates to royalty.
Shades can definitely make a color change its feeling or mood. Darker shades of purple could be more Gothic or spooky whereas colors of purple such as violet would bring up happier feelings and would be reminiscent of flowers. Dark muddy colors of green would make you think of the army, whereas a more neutral green could be more like grass or the forest. Light blue would be like the sky, whereas dark blue would the sea... and so on.
Dimmer colors might make the creation seem of less quality or otherwise have an ancient effect, and the same can be said for a faded opacity. Very bright colors would ignite feelings of happiness, and the vibrancy would make the creation look new.
Colors can also associate with particular themes and forms of art, for example, pink and yellow together could be associated with punk, or perhaps pop art. Shade can help to make a creation more dynamic and less 2D, this would help to make the creation seem very modern.
One photo could be set to 3 different alphas, making the same photo have different meanings. A black and white or sepia setting could make the photo seem old, perhaps you miss the person or are nostalgic. A red alpha over a photo could make the photo seem like something murderous has happened. And a bright purple or magenta would be fun and exciting, making the photo seem extreme.
Obviously colors have a huge ability to impact on creations, altering moods, feelings and meanings. Whole themes, ideas and moods can be set with the right colors and by altering these colors.
